Legend Holding Group Organizes Emergency Relief Initiative

Natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, and hurricanes can occur anytime. In recent years, it has become all too clear that these catastrophic natural events are happening more frequently and causing more damage. Without any doubt, organizations or businesses are saddled with the responsibility of assisting societies and victims of natural disasters in rebuilding their lives. 

On the night of  the 5th of February 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake ravaged Türkiye and Syria. Over 40,000 deaths and thousands of injuries have been recorded so far, with more casualties expected as first responders continue their rescue efforts. The actual extent of the destruction and its consequences can hardly be overseen yet, partly because the telephone network and internet have partially collapsed. Millions of people in Syria and Türkiye have been affected by the earthquake, and many are seeking shelter at relatives’ homes, in neighboring cities, or in emergency shelters. Others are sleeping in their cars, in tents or outdoors, exposed to freezing temperatures.

According to Kai Zheng, the Chairman of Legend Holding Group, “At Legend Holding Group, we stand in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands affected by the recent earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. Our hearts go out to those impacted by this deadly earthquake, which has taken thousands of lives and caused significant damage across the regions.” “In the midst of increased global support and solidarity to deliver humanitarian assistance to the two countries, we have also decided to come up with an emergency relief support initiative. An initiative that involves every member of the Legend Family, with the involvement of all our businesses in the UAE, to be able to donate different kinds of essential supplies, including food, warm clothing, cash, kids’ items and winter clothes, shoes, and other non-perishable items”, he added.

In his own view, Chenna Reddy, the Managing Director of Legend World Investment – one of the Divisions of Legend Holding Group – stated that “Of a truth, the full impact of this earthquake is still unfolding. The situation on the ground is rapidly changing, and needs are growing by the minute. As part of our commitments to both the proximate and remote communities that we service, we are strongly obliged to rise up in our capacity to helping the survivors of the Syria and Türkiye earthquake during this hard moment of their lives. More than ever, our prayers are with both countries”.

The donated items would be handed over to appropriate registered organizations that would ensure it gets to both countries.
